Game Days: 1st Geheimnstag 2522 to 1st Nachgeheim 2522
Despite Johann’s injuries the party decides to start exploring the next level.
They very quickly come to realise that this might be where serious mining effort is made.
They check out the rooms on the way to the mining area though.
One of the first rooms they come across appears to be the Overseers office.
The place has been trashed by the Goblins, but they are able to find a small book hidden away.
It appears to be a journal, but as it’s written in Dwarven no one can read it.
The next room they come across is what appears to be a locker room.
Going through the personal storage areas of the miners that used to work here they find a small stone key.
Nathaniel pockets it.
They come across a few other working areas that used to see Dwarf activity, including what appears to be an old mess hall.
There is quite a number of dead Dwarves and Goblin bodies around the area.
Going through the next door they enter one of the mining areas, that seems to go down to a pit.
Rorek decides to go get the Goblin bodies they encountered, and throw them into the pit.
The party then discusses where to explore next, and before continuing on they decide to check out the pit itself.
Rorek grumbles about having just thrown the bodies down there, but they descend down the roughly cut ramp in the side that zig-zags down.
At the bottom they find a tunnel leads off to the side.
They explore it and follow it a few branches along.
They decide enough time has passed, the place seems deserted enough, that they might as well rest here.
The next day they explore the mine a bit more, but not finding much they decide to head back up.
They finish exploring the rest of the mining area, finding more tunnels going off into iron and coal seams.
There are tracks that lead to large smelting areas.
They cross over a bridge that goes above the various cart tracks, and end up finding some secured vaults.
The doors seem to be heavily covered in runes, and hum with a light magical energy to Johann’s sight.
Not wanting to risk whatever trap might befall whomever tries to open them the party pushes on.
They find another ramp going downward.
Following it down it seems to lead to a fine avenue with buildings on either side that would have been perfect for Dwarven nobility.
Unfortunately the centre of the avenue contained a large garden, which is now overrun with fungus.
Realising it could mean more squigs the party just tries to sneak past to the next level.
Rorek makes too much noise in their attempt to sneak past, and they soon find themselves having to flee another large group of squigs.
They get out of sight for a short time, but Johann trips over as the Squigs come into sight.
They quickly put out their lights, and attempt to hide in the shadows from the squigs.
There’s a few tense moments, before the squigs seem to give up on the chase of finding them and head back to their fungus.
They get down to the next level, and find it leads to a very fancy entrance way, defaced by Goblins of course.
They explore back passages and corridors around the level, finding storage rooms and servants quarters, but always avoiding what appears to be main rooms or corridors.
Eventually they come across a door leading to what appears to be a throne room.
Matt carefully opens up the door and peaks through the gap, seeing a score of Goblins, some sort of Goblin King, and a troll.
They decide to burst in and catch the Greenskins by surprise.
Rorek is able to quickly take out 8 of the Goblins and get near the Troll.
Matt pins the Goblin King down with an arrow so he can’t run away.
Nathaniel inspires them all, and Johan summons his arrows again.
The Troll decides to vomit of Rorek, and goblins then move in to join in by stabbing at Rorek.
Some of them grab their bows and return fire on Matt, while their King tugs desperately at the arrow pinning him as he attempts to get away.
Johan moves forward and shoots off his magic arrows at the King.
Rorek dodges around the Troll to close on the Goblin King and lash into him.
The troll ignores Rorek for the chance to attack more targets, swinging its club at Matt, Johann, and Nathaniel.
The goblins continue shooting Matt, but some of them shoot at Rorek as well.
Rorek manages to kill the Goblin King, but shortly afterwards is taken down by the Troll vomiting on him again.
By this time Matt, Nathaniel, and Johann have killed almost every other Goblin in the room.
Matt manages to pin the troll in place so it can’t get close again.
Nathaniel and Johann concentrate fire on it.
Goblins shoot at Johann again, and he goes down to their fire.
Matt and Nathaniel finish them off, and then return to trying to kill the Troll.
The troll breaks free again, but is intercepted by Nathaniel’s hired guard for a short time.
They’re able to then finish off the Troll after Matt pins it again.
